Constructed by the Astor family as the Astor Trust Company Building, our building has been a landmark on the corner of 42nd and Fifth Avenue in New York City since 1916.
Yoga Sutra is the most yoga-suitable studio in New York City imaginable. You have to see it to believe it. Within this historic building, Yoga Sutra custom-built a stunning new 7,400 square foot facility designed by renowned architect Deborah Gans. The facility was designed as an interpretation of Indian Vastu temple architecture that has resulted in a museum-quality space with views of the Library. Our central space has 90 year old marble floors. Each of the three practice rooms radiate around the central space in a mandala configuration. Tall glass windows in each room allow visitors to observe students practicing each style and also glimpse the New York Public Library throughout the space. The paintings and artifacts at Yoga Sutra were bought from Mysore, South India. Our New York yoga studio features three spacious rooms devoted exclusively to yoga practice and yoga classes. Our common areas are designed to foster a sense of community and provide a sanctuary to our guests. We also have changing rooms with shower facilities. Easily found by foot or by subway, Yoga Sutra is located in the Astor Trust Company Building, which is opposite the main New York Public Library at the southeast corner of 42nd Street and 5th Ave. If you'd like a personal tour, please drop by.
