Instructor Bios
George Pitagorsky
George Pitagorsky integrates spiritual practice into daily family life
and work as director of product development for International
Institute for Learning. He has practiced and studied yoga, meditation
and tai chi in the context of an eclectic Buddhist framework, with
spiritual influences from Advaita, Dzogchen, Vajrayana and Vipassana
traditions. George co-developed both the Conscious Living and Working
Wisely workshops. He is a member of the Board of Directors of NYI and
the NYI Teachers Council.
Sandra Weinberg (CSW, CASAC)
Sandra Weinberg is a co-founder, member of the Teachers Council, and
Board of Directors of NYI. She has studied and practiced mindfulness
meditation for over 25 years and is a graduate of the first Spirit
Rock Community Dharma Leaders Program. Sandra has taught insight
meditation at NYI, the New York Open Center, City University of New York and elsewhere. She is a psychotherapist in private practice in New York City.
Jon Aaron (CSW, CASAC)
Jon Aaron has been practicing various forms of meditation for many years, but began seriously studying mindfulness meditation in 1998. His principal teacher is Matthew Flickstein and he trained in teaching of Minfulness Based Stress Reduction at the Center for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, MA. in 2007 and 2008. He has completed Teaching as a Form of Practice retreats with Matthew Flickstein and is currently enrolled in the Integrated Study and Practice Program at the Barre Center for Buddhist Studies. He leads a weekly sitting group and teaches other meditation classes at the Jewish Community Center of New York, and also teaches mindfulness meditation at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. He teaches the full MBSR curriculum at for the Dept. of Psychology at the Einstein College of Medicine and at the 92nd St. YMHA starting in October. He is also actively involved with the New York Insight
Meditation Center as an associate teacher. His mundane life is in
the performing arts world as a manager, producer and agent.
